(silly?) RO Water Question

Hi!
I was wondering if we could get RO water from different stores. Probably sounds like a silly question but I just want to make sure before we do it. The store we normally go to is quite far away, there's a closer shop (crappier service - which is why we don't go there often...) that sells RO water but like I said, not sure if it's okay to get the RO water from different sources.
Thanks!

Sure can. The only thing I would worry about would be whats the differance in TDS %. But really shouldnt be that differant.

Well, this is the problem, and the problem with getting water from the machine in general. You really don't know how well they upkeep their machines, change the filters mainly. If they do a good job it shouldn't matter really where you go. But if one store does and another doesn't. Then you could possibly have issues...

Thanks. What does TDS % stand for?
"Total Dissolved Solids". In ideal RODI, this value should be zero, but can be as high as 2 or 3% and still be OK. Whenever my RODI system begins to produce water with any measurable TDS I change filters.

From someone who has done the haul water from the store thing, do yourself a favor and get a filter system asap. Nothing else beats the convenience and peace of mind of processing your own water. A typical system will pay for itself in a short time.

Our city/tap water has arsenic in it ... would a filter system be able to get all that crap out? How much do they run?

all city water has arsenic in it... With a carbon filter and a di unit you can get most of it out. A good rodi system runs under 200 bucks shipped. Check out the brand thefilterguys they make good stuff.

With just an RO unit which is what those water dispensers use, you'll get about a 20-40 tds value. Which really isn't the end of the world.
