Hey guys -
There is a lot going on behind the surface - its a fish store after all, not an IT department! There is a lot to learn about the new functions. I assure you the text, search function, pictures, etc have been mentioned and are being worked on. We've also mentioned about being able to see tank size and things...even a few smilies have been brought up. So these are being addressed, and I expect to see changes over the next several days. Give it some time.
I like getting an email announcement that actually has the reply in it...
I'm looking forward to messing around and figuring out the new features as things get sorted out.
It was clear the site needed upgrading...and not everyone is going to be happy either way. There were loads of complaints about the pictures before, now they're working on upgrading everything, and there are complaints about that too. :D But people are knocked a bit out of the comfort of the old boards. I think in time people will come around to this.
How about this, instead of just saying "I don't like it" let's be productive. List some things that you don't like so we can pass them on and see if they can be changed. Most of the big one's (text size, pictures, search function, additional info like tank size) already have been. Its still a work in progress

In what way? Like how we used to have the little black dot or something? Here we have a blue check mark on the right side of the box with the subject of the thread to show you are subscribed...there is also an arrow on the envelope next to a thread if you have a post. Putting your cursor over it shows how many posts you have in the thread, and the time of the last one.

YESSIREEE - For a moment I was like "huh?" and then tried it out! I think it doesn't work on "older" posts (before the upgrade), but in time this will be cool!!!!!! :joy:

good job ophiura
keeping us informed .. this is more than most sites will do when there is an update.
the overall update is a good one... there are those little basic bugs to fix that comes with every upgrade but once it's been tweaked it will be great and people will have a tough time letting this one go

That was classifications the board admin set up for a certain post amount. As said before, things will be back in due time. when upgrading a board system, if you modified the old one, usually all the modifications don't come along. You'll have your classification back soon enough.

See if you can't set your own now under user CP---> edit profile. Might be able to decide your own :)

Sorry but I dont like haveing to keep scrolling left and right to read. I only had to scroll right one time before and I could read the whole thread. And that was only when there was a pic in that thread. I dont have the largest monitor in the world and Im sure a lot of other ppl. as well. I think there is too much wasted space in title boxes ect. that unnessesarly causes the site to run so wide. Please show some consideration for those of us who spend all our money on our aquarariums insted of our computors.

see i dont mind it cause i go to a lot of different forum boards (oldsmobile, Subaru, Chevrolet, Computer, and psp Forums,) And this is how they are mostly laid out. So i dont mind it, i always liked the signatures underneath the posts but i could see here how they could be a pain being there are so many people on the boards but one thing i have noticed is there are a lot of "lurkers" on this board i always see a few thousand people on the boards but the posts and threads dont reflect the amount of people on the forum. That is this sites downfall there database and servers must be huge thats why we seem to loose some creature comforts i'm acustomed to i.e. PM's that bugs the crap out of me that and web links in threads are very er i dont know the word i'm looking for but kind of controlling but whatever it's not that big of deal there are ways around it.
The typing is small and when it's early in the am it's hard for me to see it but i have the ability to put this on my 52" lcd big screen so i can see it pretty good then lol. Aside from that i dont mind the layout once they get the pics bugs out cause i see my self going back to older threads looking for pics and there not there lol they should have those back up soon i hope at least. But i do like the old way better but i think they will get this looking good again.

The PM and signature features were unfortunately abused by people, and it is just easier all in all to not have them. As for the links, yes, it can be annoying at times even for me :) But I can see the point. Most informational articles and such are sponsored by competitors. Their adds are all over them. This site is great for going the extra mile to have a message board where you can get "real" info on experiences with certain animals, etc...but they shouldn't have to be SO nice that they are sending everyone to the competition. :D
Text size has of course been mentioned...I'll mention the screen size issue. But I know that will be difficult for some because the computer screen resolution, age of browser, etc is different for so many people. I designed some very early sites and I just had to accept that not everyone would be able to see it as intended. If you can, try messing with screen resolution settings and see if anything helps.

Upgrade implies a desire to improve what you have. This seems encouraging to me and should be to everyone who enjoys this site. We'll get used to the changes.
If you're looking at these threads, you are probably computer savvy. You have already been subject to an "upgrade" or a service pac or some new application or whatever.
I appreciate the fact that this site is maintained for our use. There is a wealth of info here!!

So far I like the look and changes. The only thing I don't like is having to scroll side to side. That drives me crazy even though I can do it from my mouse. I have a 19 inch monitor and guess I'm gonna have to go buy a 21". :)

Save your money Knots.
I'm using a 17" and i do not have to scroll side to side. This may be a browser setting or something in you PC control panel.
In any event, It is not this site.

Hey, this quick reply thing is pretty cool. I hadn't noticed it yet. I wish it could make me type faster, but alas, that is impossible.
