I think people are verging on unfair and unwarranted insinuation here. Camera's often have different settings, people have different fish, tanks, lighting, etc that ALL impact the colors of the fish.
There is nothing misleading about it, and it can be wrong to imply it, IMO.
When I bought my car, it looked a certain color online, and a bit different in person. This is very very common with fish which are not mass produced.
Any time you see a fish, coral, etc - even "eye and buy" you must realize it may not look the same in your tanks. This is VERY common with corals and zoanthids, where lighting has a huge role in what you see at any given time.
It is hard to get an absolute accurate representation of exactly what you will get in all cases.
So let's stop implying that people are somehow cheating, over correcting, "enhancing" etc. Enjoy the contest, and if you have nothing nice to say, say nothing at all (speak with your vote please). If you think it is enhanced, don't vote for it...but let's not make this personal (and invariably, stating that someone's picture is "enhanced" becomes personal).
Keep it fun!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

yeah we should keep it fun but we should keep it legit too. people have overly altered their photos...they know who they are. I have worked around photo and retouching for about 8 years, 99% of the time I can tell when its been messed with. Most people dont know so they vote cause it looks cool...even though its not realistic. But yeah we should try and keep this fun but we also need to remember there are some competitive people (myself included) on this site who like things to be won fair and square.

"The Criteria is: Which photograph does a better job in motivating someone to buy this animal?"
I think many people in this hobby are experienced enough to judge what is realistic for an animal, and what is not. But the criteria is what will motivate someone to buy. There is a fine line as to what is manipulated and what is just fixing...and a major negative implication to one of them.
Thread closed, and further comments implying people have doctored photos and are not "legit" will be deleted.
