skilter?

anyone ever used skilter filter before ? i want to know if it will work on my 20gal as a skimmer.

i think its absolutely horrible!

i went a bought a new HOB filter ASAP and got a skimmer later!
on a side note they do look really cool when you hit them w/ a baseball bat!

1rst skimmer I ever bought (if you want to all it that). thing works GREAT as a mechanical filter (air turned off completely). As a skimmer its the WORSE thing EVER! makes so much noise you have to turn the air off for peace and skims just about nothing. Once every 3wks I actually saw resemblence of foam around the neck (unfortunately never saw anything besides a few mm of clear water inside the collection cup. Paper weight!

Nice summary of the Skilter. But, you are much better off buying a Bak-Pak or Aqua-C Remora/Urchin skimmer.

I perfer a skimmer but a guy up at my lfs knows how to do a upgrade on the skilters to make the skimmer in them work a whole lot better. For the money for them you could pay a little more and get a Remora or a Prizm.

I just took mine off and trashed it on Friday. I got me a now cainster filter and a skimmer! YEAH

I agree, but Prism skimmers are awful.

I have a skilter 400 on my 20 gal reef and it skims like crazy.....
To each is own I guess but it is def loud. I run it during the day and at night shut it off.
I LOVE my skilter.

Not worth the plastic it took to put it together . i brought one on thursday(this week), and took it back on friday.I could not tune it to skim anything so i took it back and replaced it .Very noisey and poorly made , i would say save and get an aqau-c remora.If you can.
