Skilters?

Ok I have seen these Skilters and they are a built in skimmer and filter in one. Now thise would save me a ton of room on my tank because I am looking for a skimmer and would like to use my old filter on a different tank. Are these things any good at all? Do they actually skim? Any info on these would be appreciated.

No personal experience but what I heard is that they are OK on tanks less than 29G only but slightly better than nothing at all

I personally use a skilter but I agree that the smaller the tank the better for them. Mine is on a 20 Long. I love it, but not sure how well it would work on a much larger tank.
PS - Shout out to east TN, i'm originally from Johnson City myself.
