I would like to make a smaller skimmer box for my 75 and was wondering if you need a certain amount of flow , my current box is 8-1/4 X 3-3/4, would like to go 1/2 the size to take up less space in corner. Will this work or wont it skim enough of the surface water.:notsure:

I think mine is only 5" or so. It is a skimmer/hob overflow.
the only limitation I foresee is keeping the flow in the u tube high enough to suck the bubbles through. and/or possibly enough area for the bubbles to not get sucked into the u tube to begin with.

If you have enough plant life in the overflow box it will absorb the bubbles and turn it into a special gas that will repair holes in the ozone. That way you would'nt have any problem's with flow through your u-tube. Most people keep algae in the fuge though,at least that's where I keep mine.

:hilarious :D

I think even alittle skimmer will help. You don't need alot to keep that nasty oil slick off the top. A power head breaking the surface will help alot also if it wont keep up. Just keeps it moving towards the skimmer.
