Skimmer during cycle.

I am cycling my tank right now and was just wondering if I should run my skimmer or not.

It is ok to run the skimmer during the cycle. You probably won't even get anything in the skimmer cup from a new tank. It just gives a little more time to break-in the skimmer.

well, here is the reason I was thinking it might be a good idea. When I moved my tank from Vegas up here to Oregon I got rid of all my livestock, but I kept my live rock. The rock has been siting in a bucket for about two months and is very dead. With that said there are lots of dead worms and I am sure other creatures inside the rocks. I think that should help my tank cycle, but would the skimmer maybe help remove some of the organics once the bacteria starts to break everything down?
