Hey - new guy here & I expect to asking a bunch of questions in the next few months, so I'll apologize in advance! I have a 46 bow front at home, currently with 20 lbs of live rock & 20 lbs of "base rock". (I started this whole thing backwards and no i'm trying get into a reef-type set up.) Anyway I've currently have 2 clowns, a purple tang, a coral beauty and a royal gramma along with some Turbos, hermits and 2 Emerald Crabs.
One of my many troubles is I need a protein skimmer. I had the Prisim skimmer from Red Sea, but it always seemed to fill the tanks with bubbles. Anyway, can some one suggest a good skimmer for my tank. Everything I look at is for 100 + !

Welcome to the board and good luck. I have a 55g with a sump. I just switched from a prism to a Euroreef. The Euroreef is amazing! Mine was about $200. Do you need a hang-on or do you have a sump? Are you not running the prism at all right now?

If you don't want to go with the sump route, a CPR backpack skimmer will work quite well for that size tank. I ran one on my 38 gal. for a while before switching to a sump based setup.

are you sure you have the prizm setup correctly. You can adjust it so there is no bubbles coming out of it. Mine did shoot out bubbles until I read the instructions and learned how to adjust it.
