The seaclones pump is in the tank, so there shouldnt be any noise heard from that. If anything it may vibrate which can be fixed by making sure the suction cups are securing the motor to the tank wall. The only other noise really that the seaclone puts out is the water going back into the tank which is also cured by using a bit of superglue and old scrap plastic to make the water fall into the surface of the water instead of splashing the surface.
Other than the seaclone I've only used the Lees counter current air driven skimmer and then you have the noise of the air pump, and the via aqua skimmer which is terribly loud.
I've heard some people say that the aquac remora is pretty quiet, and it's pump sits in the water as well so that pretty much negates the pump noise to a big degree.
What is it thats loud to you about your skimmer.
By the way I wouldnt use the seaclone on a 80g tank anyway, it's not effieient enough on a larger tank in my opinion, but in my 20 gallon with 20 gallon sump, it pulls out at least half the collection cup of dark skimmate per day.
