Skimmer Help!!!

hey gang...hope all is well this Thanksgiving Eve. I have a quick question about my skimmer. I have had my skimmer for about 3 to 4 months now in my sump. Every time I go to add water, my skimmer goes WILD to the point of over flowing. If I keep emptying the cup, there will be no water left in the sump, which will produce air bubbles in the tank. I don't know what to do. Please help...any thoughts!!! This only happens when I go to replace the water from evap...HELP!!!

Um...I'm a really big noob to saltwater, but what about adding the water directly to the tank? I'm not sure if thats a bad thing to do, but it would keep the skimmer from overflowing I would think...sorry if thats a bad thing to do, again I didn't know any better...oh it would add bubbles to ur tank too which is what u r trying to avoid...oops...
