skimmer help

Seems like you have a lot of plumbing going on. What exactly is the problem? It's hard to distinguish from the pictures.

is the air intake near the top of the tall tube clogged. the skimmers pump tube should be going in the top drawing air in the intake right near the top. there should be some minibioballs in the tube near the bottom to help mix the air and water.

do you think it's the way i have the piped hook up. I can blow through the tube and bubbles start. lol I have the pump all the at the bottom of the tank. maybeeee.
I ran each pipe out side to my pump house.Maybe 2 or 3 feet away from the tank.I ran a pipe from the pump (bottom of the tank) to outside to skimmers and then back in the tank. The skimmer just fill up with water and over flows. I put a vaule to control the flow but all i get is water no bubbles.

I think it might be were the pipes is going through the house has to come up to get to the tank. That might be holding the water to high. I will try and cut another hole higher if the pump house lets me go that high.

part of the issue might be that the exit pipe on the skimmer goes up not straight out, so the water level in the skimmer is at the level of the pipe going out not the outlet of the skimmer. you are going to need to raise the skimmer or cut a hole lower to let the outlet go out straight.

just saw that it goes up even higher i n the next room. the skimmers water level is at the top of that point you def need to raise the skimmer, and might need a larger pump to make up for the increased head pressure from pumping up higher

Looks to me like you have way too small of pump for that skimmer. Reef Devil isn't it. If you know the model double check the pump requirement and open the intake valve all the way. You regulate the water height using the output valve.

You're also going to want to get rid of that reduced size piping on the exit side. Having the up hill run probably isn't a huge deal but you want to make sure it will flow out faster than in. You can push water through a 1" pipe with a pump a lot faster than it will drain out by gravity.

I had to put it on the top fish tank to make it work. It's a little eye sore. But i will cover it up somehow.
