skimmer noise driving me crazy ...

Ok I jsut got my new sea clone protein skimmer. I hooked it up and was really excited about it before I plugged it in. Then oh the noise the noise the noise. That skimmer is really loud and since it is in my bedroom I want it to be quiet. Right now I turn the skimmer off at night. Does anyone know how to make this skimmer quiet, or is it ok that I turn it off at night?

If the noise bothers you I dont see any major problems with turning the skimmer off at night.
The 1200 pump for the skimmer is a little noisy.
I found that by placing a small piece of foam between the skimmer (at the bottom) and the tank helped eliminate some of the vibration noise but there will always be some noise from the pump and the suction no matter what you do.

I'm assuming you try to keep somewhat of a normal sleep schedule. So I would just put it on a timer so you don't have to mess with it.

maybe the noise you are hearing is the ventri air line on the skimmer it makes a lot of noise at night i just turn the skimm down to just flowing try that for a night because the skimmer should be quiet after taht if not i dont see any downside to turning the skimmer off at night
