Skimmer not...well..Skimming

So I've had this POS prizm skimmer for about a month now and it has yet to skim at all, there has never been any foam in the collection chamber, in fact it has never even overflowed into the collection chamber. I have tried every possible way of adjusting the intake. right in betwixt wet/dy skim and..nothing. I know this is a crappy skimmer in the first place but, just flat out doing nothing at all..is that to be expected from a red sea product?
as a side note about the skimmer, there is plastic tubing which comes off of the intake tube and feeds up on the top portion of the collection chamber, how ever, there are two ports into which it could connect to. The port that it has always been connected to is basically a dead end, and the other port continues through and feeds into the collection chamber. Am I using the wrong one? I noticed that if I am starting up the skimmer and have the tubing connected to the port that feeds into the collection chamber, it will not be able to suck up any water from the intake.
It has leaked quite a few times and each time I isolate the leak I seal it shut. I have no idea whats wrong with the damn thing.
What could be the problem?

Iused to have a Prizm and it took about a week before it would produce any foam. The hose should be connected to the chamber port. The dead end port is for primming.

I just connected it to the chamber port and wow...I feel like an idiot.

The only problem I had with the Prizm was having to make alot of adjustments...
