Skimmer outlet valve

Hi Everyone, I just picked up a MRC 1 skimmer. I also have the valve for it. Can someone tell me how to attach it? Both the valve and the skimmer box where is attaches have 1 1/2" female ends. I dont want to use 2 male ends with a 1" piece of PVC in the middle of them because it will make the whole unit to wide for my sump.
Any help appreciated.

Got any pictures? They didn't send you a piece to connect it? If it's threaded you could use a male x male coupling.

Landscaper - HD should have them - it does not necessarily have to have the nut in the middle, it can be just threaded both sides NPT - the nut does help to tighten it in - but you don't want to go really tight so you don't crack something. It is called a 1-1/2" NPT closed nipple (that should get someone going tonight) good luck

I know HD and Lowes down here where I'm at sometimes are pretty skimpy on their plumbing supplies. Plumbing supply houses are usually the best bet if you can't find it at any one of the others.

Very cool thanks guys... While your here :).. maybe you can help me with this... Just installed a mag 18 pump on my 90 gal overflow setup.. I was using a rio 1200, and never had to dial it back.. well the 1800 is CRAZY powerful compared.. anyway I have been dialing back the ball valve to slow the rate to the return. But it seems even with less water output/pressure then I had with the RIO the floting thing in the over flow is going grazy vvhhoommmppp and going up and down.. any ideas? Does anyone operate their drilled overflows without this?

Also.... the return on bottom I am using a 1 1/4" (I think) pool looking hose that originally came with my wet dry when I still used that. But the first time I turned on the pump.. boommm it popped right out. I want to hard plumb this.. but would I actually be getting less avail. drainage with 1" pipes?

Ahhh, yes...I vaguely remember mentioning to someone before that the mag 18 was way overkill....hmmm I wonder who that could have been???
J/K.
I'm confused. You're using the pool vacuum looking hose as your return line or your drain line? There's no reason why you can't increase the size of the drain line with the right fittings. We did the same thing for another member here. Her overflow came with a 1" bulkead but we increase the drain line to 1-1/4".
I don't understand the floating thing in the overflow? What type of overflow are you using? And what size is the bulkhead?

Ha Opps... yea I think I remember you telling me.. So the bulkheads are 1" drain and a 3/4" return.. I have used some fittings and plumbed the return to a 1" line (where is meets the bulkhead it is smaller beause of the fittings... ) I want to make the drain bigger.... but I just figured that since the first coupling going into the underside of the bulkhead has to be 3/4" to slip into the bulkhead, I thought making the connecting pipes bigger wouldnt give me any more drainage? I dont know.. Im going crazy with all this.. But either way I believe the pool hose is 1 1/4" I think... I will take a picture for you now.

Thank you!
Does the output from the two loc-lines look normal / enough? As I said if I open the ball valve from the pump anymore the float in the overflow goes crazy.
Thanks.

I would lower them. I think if you leave them up like that it's going to create bubbles as the water splashes down and as they pop it's going to create salt creep all over your trim.

Are you asking how to set the skimmer itself up? Is it a record skimmer or their standard line? Single or dual Beckett? Are you planning to gravity feed it? What pump are you using to drive the Beckett? I only ask because I run the MRC 2 dual Beckett.

Your asking about the gate valve for the skimmer? Make the connection where you can remove it, but the valve is what regulates the water level in the skimmer body. Once you set the water level you then have to fine tune the air adjustment on the air valve. It's a bit tricky and very touchy and will take a bit to dial it in. Remember to keep the air silencer clean. If it clogs you'll have a heck of a time setting it. You can replace the material with cotton.

Acrylic.. sorry my questions here changed a couple of times... I have the skimmer all set up and good.. now probs with that. I was asking about the side overflow and my main return to the tank.. My two loc-line nozzles are not normally pointing up.. I just did it for the pictures.. I wanted to get opinions on if that looked like normal output.
Thanks

Ok well the pool hose is gone. I hard plumbed the drain into a 1 1/4" pipe into the new sump that was put in after this picture... I am waiting for more RO Water to be able to fill the sump up to operate everything. I guess my only question now is if that pressure/volume comming out of the loc-line looks normal.
