I would say it was probably the product as they often make skimmers go nuts but the results would hve been almost immediate unless there is a delayed reaction from the product.
If its an in sump skimmer I would just let it overflow back into the tank for a few days eventually it will slow down as whatever reaction is making it go nuts will back off, or hook up an overflow line to a LArge bucket untill it calms down so you dont have to dump it so often, the second would probably be the more effective route, Unfortunatly I am not very familiar with reefdevil skimmers so i cant help you on the mechanical aspect of that, maybe some one who has one can jump in and help you out a little on debugging and troubleshooting it.
