I just set up my skimmer and the air injection piece that fits into the tubing before the top is missing is it OK to plug it up there is no way I can get the top on it.

what kind of skimmer is it?
it sounjds oike a venturi skimmer - that is when they use a pump to push both the air bubbles and the water into the skimmer. Without the air bubbles (if you plugged the top) the skimmer wouldn;t be doing much - you may as well wait until you can get back to the LFS and get the parts you need.

It is a sea clone 150 and the missing part is a little piece of plastic that fits into the air injection control valve when I shut the plastic tubing completly it seems to work better I close it up it seem to run better But I have never had one before so I do not know

The air hose is not in the water. The unit is mounted on the outside of my tank and the pump is in the water the air hose sits on the unit not in the water.
