Skimmer Problem!!

I have a Coralife SS125.. HOB.. I came home from work and the collection cup was full of water. There was a little on my floor.. It must of just started to fill up...
I have heard of this happening to people. Does anyone know how to stop this?
I am going away for 5 days... I dont want this to happen when im gone. I have my neighbor feeding the fish but the skimmer is going to be a problem...
3 questions:
1. Does anyone think that i can turn the skimmer off for 5 days..? the tank is 1.2 months old...
2. Is there a way to stop this from happening?
3. Can i put it in a sump without having the tank drilled? I have seem some set ups like that. DOes anyone know how to do it, what it consists of?
Please help!!

check the water level of the tank. Make sure its only 1/4 inch below the top of the bubble disfuser. Anouther thing to look for is how far from the bottom the big tube is in the difuser. If its to close to the filter in the difuser it will overflow. Hopefully this made some sence.

I checked everything its weird.. It was working fine and then later on in the dayit decides to pour water into the collection cup.. I dont understand....
Can anyone comment on the other questions?

Couple of things:
5 days with out skimming should be fine. Do a water change before you leave. In sump skimmer works fine but you have to have a constant water level. Do you have an auto top off to keep the level constant. If not, you will never get it to work in the fuge/sump efficiently. Also, is your sump deep enough to accomodate a HOB skimmer?

you are lucky.......
cuz there were only some water on your floor.
my 125 skimmer overflowed while I was at work and dumped 7g of saltwater onto carpet floor.
My mom called and told me the disaster. I dropped everything at work and took off.
I could never be able to take all 7g of saltwater out of the floor. So I hate it so bad.
I still dont' know why it overflowed.
I figured the lil pinhole air vent caused the problem cuz it's clogged up.
I modified the output water with pvc and give provide it with a 1" airvent,(breath as much as it wants!)
I lived in fear since the day I got that coralife 125skimmer and been overflowed twice.
I will soon build a 7g waterproof woodbox and set it by the skimmer so when it decide to go nuts on me again, at least my carpet will be dry!
Oh also, when the electricity goes off and comes back on, it will overflow. And if you are away from home, and not there by the tank to lower the valve, you are done :)

I have my skimmer in my sump - my water levels fluctuate because of evaporation, but I add water once a week or so to keep the levels up. When I go out of town, I put extra water in to keep the water level fairly high.
I've only had my tank for 8 months or so, but I've never had a problem doing it that way and my tank is doing very well.
