Skimmer problems please help ASAP

I purchased a new skimmer. Coralife Super skimmer needle wheel technology 33002(125G)
It has little overflow box that has filter pads in it. They call it a bubble diffuser, well no matter what I do I have tiny bubbles going into my tank. The thing gurgles and has big water bubbles on top. Even if I get rid of most all water bubbles on top the tiny bubbles still come out of the little box on the bottom. The trouble shooting section says nothing about bubbles. Just what to do if there are no bubbles in the skimmer chamber.
I did shorten the intake little air tube to take up slack
My tank looks like a giant skimmer!
Bubbles are bad for fish...
HELP
I have tried:
  • shortening the output tubing
  • shoving output tubing in deeper
  • lifting the box higher
  • lowering the box
  • putting more filter pads in
  • taking out filter pads
  • no pads at all
placing white filter pad mid way in box]
moving the box from right under, to the side of the skimmer.
    no box at all
    lowering tank water level
    adjusting skimmer intake and output
    lifting water level
pump is at the right depth

I removed the foam/bubble diffuser -- but I use a sump with baffles.... I have the same type of skimmer and honestly believe it only belongs in a sump --- sorry I can't help!

I've been thinking on this... really hard to skim without bubbles though
If I couild understand why there are bubbles outside of the skimmer, maybe I could think of what to do.

The vortex creates just a load of bubbles.. which produces the foam skimmate -- unless all the bubbles pop or go in the collection cup you're going to have them back to your diffuser. I honestly looked at the diffuser box and thought.. hmm what the heck is this for? and threw it in my "bin O' tank parts" and never gave it a second thought.

I tried that, the output is so strong it huge bubles throughout the tank. Is it possible it is too strong for my tank? it is a 90g and it is made for up to 125

Is the water "falling" into the tank, shouldn't be but that would definately cause bubbles as it should be introduced under the water. I'm at work and can't look at either skimmer but I'll keep it in mind and definately let you know if I come up with something :(

Thank you so much.
The idiots that made the instructions show a picture of the box with a note that says min .25 so here I am doing everything I can to make sure the box is above the water line just barely.
I got disgusted and submerged the whole box. Knocking a power head out of alignment, now I have debris floating everywhere. But it looks like there are no more bubbles.
I have to wait for things to settle to make sure. Why those numb skulls didn't just say submerge the box but keep water levels so box is not out of the water no more than .25?

If this is indeed the case, a long detailed letter is going out to coralife. Maybe I can get a job there explaining things so normal people can use the instructions, what little there are of them, to some use.
keep you posted - your toss the box statement got me thinking about just putting the whole thing underwater.
Again thanks for all the help.

Do you really want to work in China?

I just remember when I had a SeaClone (never again) and it was HOB (never again) I had to raise the water level in the tank to keep micro bubbles from entering the water column.

I didn't think of that.
LOL I am just sooo aggravated right now. Maybe it is a translation problem, submerged does not have a word in Chinese??? They can't say put little box underwater???

You can seem my return section in my sump is pretty violent but even as it gets to the next section virtually no bubbles and definately none by the 3rd stage. Most of the violence in there is from the tank drain and not the skimmer as the hose is under water.

Yeh, that's the bad boy alright, just like mine.
I got it. Everything is peaceful. The hose was way to strong without the little box with filter pads in it. However the whole box had to be just under the water line, never to go higher than .25 over the water line.
I was so at my wits end. The store where I bought it is closed today. The tech. support never called back, and you were the only one coming to my recue, and at first you just said sorry can't help.
I'm glad you didn't leave me hanging. Things are so calm I can't even tell there is a skimmer back there. Just tiny little bubbles inside the chamber letting me know it's working hard.

Thank you!
