skimmer question?

help with a skimmer. I bought this and dont have a clue what size pump it needs or what the strange tube in collection cup is for.

My guess is that the previous owner had the protein skimmer by a waste drain. So, he never had to clean out his skimmer. It probably just drained away. I use a rio 2100 on a slightly smaller skimmer.

21 in.x 5in its a pretty big skimmer

Blue word= inlet The out let is naext to that and the long tube is the waste, drain that into a bucket.
Size pump? The bigger the better. You can always throttle down but you can't throttle up.

Looks like you need a venture also. (or maybe it has one?)

Big? mine is 4" dia X 5 foot.

A venture sucks in air as the water rushes past it creating millions of micro bubbles. The bubbles go into the skimmer making the skimmer do it's thing.
Kent sells two. I use the bigger one. I need it for my 5 footer.
