Skimmer Question?

20gallon

I have a 20 Gallon long Reef tank with a few fish & Corals. I run the Skilter 250(go ahead laugh) It actually has been very good for me but I am now looking to upgrade & I'm considering getting a Aqua C Remora or Remora Nano, If I do that do I still need to have a HOB mechanical filter or can I just run with the Remora/Remora Nano & my routine water changes?

With that small a volume of water forget the filter - you will just be fighting with nitrates. Just be very religious with your water changes.

Unless you remove the media and just utilize a filter for increased water flow, I find filters to be of marginal use, if any, in a system with adequate live rock.

I have a 20 gal with a skilter 250. I have 30 lbs of live rock (That your biofilter). I am getting a aqua c too, and thats all you need. Turn your skilter 250 in to a refuge with cheato algea. add a power head to help with the mechanical filter which needed to be 20 times your tank volume. the chemical filter is the gas exchanges.
