Skimmer Question

I have the biocube skimmer for my biocube 29 and i was wondering something, Should it fill with water very fast? When I empty it, it fills up quite fast with water, I thought this was normal till recently. Should I let it fill so quick or should I find the right air setting to make it fill only after a few days?
I'm turning it off soon as I am cycling and several people have told me to leave it off during this process but I want to have the air set right for when I turn it back on.

it should produce a foam that raises up into the cup. This will settle down into the bottom as a nice black/green funk. This is the nasty coming out of tank. If you are just having clear h20 in the cup then you are not set up correctly. Make adjustments so that the bubbles are just reaching the neck of the skimmer.
Do a search for skimmers on this site and there are some pics of what it should look like.

You don't want any water in the collection cup. You want foam. If your cycling then you may not have any think to skim.

Yeah others have told me to turn it off but I wanted to get it right before I did. Thanks for the input i'll go fix and then turn it off and pray the foam is right when I turn it back on. Should i completely remove the skimmer from the tank or can I leave it in the water? My cycle should be completed in 2 weeks or less.

You can leave it. Don't worry about adjusting it now. For the first several months you will have to adjust. Your tank is going through changes and will continue to do so. Skimmers can be touchy so just kinda tweek it as needed.
