skimmer question

hi everyone,
how long should a skimmer be left on? mine been on 24/7 for over a 5 weeks now. i'm concern it removes too much from the water.

I normally adjust the venturi kit on my MJ at night so that there are no bubbles being made, just water shooting in...that way the water can still be filtered through the carbon and macros that I shoved into the side that used to hold a "bio bale" in my protein skimmer without causing me to have to pee all night long (the tank is in my bedroom)...my water parameters are excellent, all 0 with 8.2 pH and 1.024 specific gravity, yet the skimmer is practically off the 8 hours that I sleep. I don't know how that would work with other skimmers, but if you have a CPR Bak Pak 2 I recommend it highly. The water is great and I have peace and quiet with no rushing water sounds at night...

I wouldn't worry about running it 24/7. IMO the more gunk it clears outa your tank the better!
