Skimmer slowly looses air

Does anyone know why my coralife super skimmer 65 looses air and then just is water? If I unplug it for 1 sec and back in it works fine. I noticed the one at petland today had no air either.

I am not familar with coralife skimmers but it could be that the air tubing is getting clogged with salt or dirt

I have thought of this but why when I turn it off then back on it works great?

I would agree that it's a dirty venturi tube or a gummed up venturi assembly on the pump. Can't explain the on-off thing, but Venturis are pretty much failsafe unless they get dirty.

Alright, I guess since my tank is pulled away from the wall I will take it apart.

My guess as to why it works when you turn it off and on is that whatever is clogging the tube gets cleared slightly when the suction is lost by turning off the skimmer and than slowly gets in the way again. Just an idea.

I had a problem with a small snail that crawled into my pump and when running it sucked it to my venturi and when I turned it off it fell down for a little while then bam stuck again.

Oh. Well since yesterday it has worked fine. Im still going to take it apart and see what the problem is. Im also going to go to the store and buy some tubing and run it outside of the stand.
