Hi,
I'm looking to get a skimmer and was wondering which one was a good but affordable one to get!
I have a 46g FOWLR tank with a wet/dry sump filter. i would like to get one that would go in the sump.
I have seen many different makes out there: Prizm, turbo skimmer, seaclone. are any of these any good?
any suggestions on what to look for or what brands are good is appreciated.
Thanks

A lot of good things said about the Remora, in your case... Urchin. They BETTER be good, cause I have one on order!!

from what I hear the seaclones and visi-jets a good for the price. I just ordered a visi-jet myself. And the guy at the pet store where I shop runs visi-jets on his tank at home.

I run a seaclone 100 on my 20g tank and it does just fine. One of the two LFS near me runs seaclones on all their display tanks, and it pulls out all kinds of gunk, they often have to empty the cup 2x's a day, sometimes just once a day though.
Me, I have to empty mine once a week maybe when its about half full of the darkest, nastiest smelling skimmate immaginable.
But yes, I think that a lot of people seem to agree that the remora skimmers are good skimmers, but I dont have experience with them personally, and I do know that a large population in any given forum will "jump on the bandwagon" just to be with the incrowd.
For me, the seaclone 100 on my tank does great.

I run a remora that pulls some nasty stuff. With protein skimmers i firmly believe you get what you pay for. Started with a visi-jet that was a hunk of junk-but i couldnt beat the deal only 40 bucks! Spent 165 on the remora and I am way happier with the performance.:)

Don't want to be the only one going against the grain but I had a SeaClone for a year before becoming completely fed up with it. Save yourself the heartache and get the best from the start. Go w/ a Euro-Reef or ETSS.
