Skimmer & UV Advice

I have the following equipment and want to add an in sump protein skimmer and UV I'm looking for quality equipment and quite since the tank is in my bedroom, any advice would be greatly appreciated. I have been looking at the ASM G1x
58 gallon reef ready
Mega flow sump filter #3
T-5 lights
aqua via pump
50 pounds of live rock
60 pounds of BioActive Live Aragonite
Yellow tank
4 clowns
flame hawkfish
Diamond Gobie
red reef hermit crabs
turbo snails

I had an ASM G1x in my 55 tank (12 gal sump), worked great...

Won't b displeased with the ASM skimmer at all!!!!!!

I have a Laguna UV powerclear 2000 its 25watts, the thing I like about it is that parts like bulbs & gaskets can be found at garden & pond stores not just lfs.

Thanks for the advice. I purchased a ASM G-2 yesterday it was the size recommened for my sump. I also heard better to oversize. I'll be glad when it arrives.

when I get my sump built then Ill get one.

Not too bad, the flow goes over the riser so if you don't have the filter on it will make splashing noises. There is a mod I believe for extending the riser and adding a valve but I never dabbled with it.

I've run several of the ASM skimmers and I would consider them dead quiet IMO.......The mod that was mentioned was the gate valve mod, which does away with the sponge to cut back on the splashing.......The gate valve mod, just makes the skimmer super easy to adjust without getting your hands wet.....Very simple mod.....If you go to their website asmskimmerdotcom you'll see what's involved in the mod of these type skimmers....These mods can also be done on the EuroReef skimmers as well
