i had a sea clone its alrite , i dont think its the best but it worked well enough for us! i think it is quite noisey though, we now have a deltec hang -in skimmer and its very quiet

Some have had success with SeaClone skimmers, but I would say that in general most people (including myself) don't like them.
For a 29 gallon I'd suggest getting a Bak Pak2 skimmer. For a slightly larger tank, like a 55 or so, I'd suggest the AquaC Remora. Those two seem to be the most liked.
I started with a SeaClone and hated it. After returning it to the LFS I got a Remora and am glad I spent the extra money.

I've got the AquaC Remora on my 29, I like it a lot. Pulls some NASTY stuff out of my tank. :D

Is there another good one for less, i'm only 14. don't have the $. but can you believe this, i bought a visi-jet skimmer for like $35, boy should i have not done that, that thing sucked. I was so stupid, but i was just a beginner that and did not know what i was doin.

If you don't even have the 55 yet, I'd suggest you start saving now. Assume it will take a few more weeks to get the tank, a few weeks to cycle, then a few weeks until you have a fish in it. That means you won't even need the skimmer for probably 3 months or so.

I have a 29 gallon right now and i will just move the water and rocks and sand to my new one I will already have an established bio-wheel so my tank will already be established won't it. Or what do you think i should do? Or i could have the 55 gallon running for a while and then take the fish out of the 29 and put it in the 55 sinse the tank will be in a different spot. then i will sell the 29 back to the lfs.:)

Also, would you recomment a canopy or just lighting with legs? And i will put that clear plastic down so the fish cannot jump out, do i just cut it in places so the hang on stuff will fit?

I use a light fixture with legs in my 60 gallon and i just use a glass lid. The advantage of using glass is that you can have it cut so if u want it shorter you just bring it to a local glass cutter and it'll be done in no time.

Where did you buy your visi-jet. I got mine from petsmart, and they took mine back. I ordered it on line, and took it back to the store . you might do that too. I bought the aqua c for my 55

Do the world a favor, kiss your $35 goodbye and destroy your visi-jet so that they don't resell it to some other poor guy.
I hate my visi-jet so much that when I get an upgrade I plan on making a webpage on how inferior it is, with pictures of me destroying it.
