i bought a protein skimmer skilter 400 the question i have is when i turn the skimmer part on it blows out tiny bubbles in the water i know this is not good but how do i stop it ?

i know now this is not the best skimmer but it is the one i got and they wont take it back it was 75.00 so i will have to use it for now just wondered if anyone could help me

is it hob or in the sump?

maybe your water level is too low in your tank?

Skilters just make a lot of bubbles. You could try taking the filter cartridge out and replacing it with a foam block and see if that cuts down on the bubbles that get to the tank.

You could try one of the foam blocks for Aquaclear's biggest filter and trim it to size.

Im not sure there is much you can do. I have had skilters in the past and i just dealt with it. sucks but you got what you got

Yea, you are pretty much stuck. I bought the skilter 250 for my tank. I had an insane amount of bubbles in the tank when I tried using the skimmer for a bit, I eventually gave up and used it as a HOB filter untill i set up my sump and bought a coralife skimmer, then i scrapped it.
