is there a such thing as a HOB skimmer and if so what are some good brands

yes there is such a thing and lots of different brands. i have a Reef Octopus 100-bh model. it does very well and was pulling skimmate withen a few hours.

Aqua c remora. I have one for my 29 gal and it works great.

I have whats called a bak pak skimmer on my 55 and it works great

Aqua c remora is one of the best HOB i thank but there not cheep.

I agree with the Aqua C!!! Made the mistake of buying a Coralife and cant wait to buy the Aqua C which I should have done at first.

My vote? Seaclone. I know, I know, they have a poor rep, but mine was cheap, has worked consistently well for a couple of years, producing dark concentrated skimmate, and is very dependable. Keep it clean, keep an eys on the air valve, and for me at least, it's been great.

i looked up the aqua c remora... looks pretty nice... i suppose i shall be gettin this next... just got a bomb dropped on me tho.... my freshly cycled tank... si about to go trough a move in the next month or 2

What size tank?
For a larger tank, the Aquamedic Turboflotor is a good choice.
