skimmer

My prizm skimmer keeps collecting water in the collection cup...I change the valve to a lower setting and this helps. What I was wondering is will this change when my system is more mature or are they always REALLY LOUD? I would like to run it on full steam, it is much more quiet...will I ever see the day? Thanks for your help.

That seems to be how Prizms work. Mine is taking up space on a shelf. The flow needs turned down until it is almost off to stop the water in the collection cup and bubbles from returning to the tank. I have been told that after it is running for some time that you can turn it up to about 1/3, but I never waited to see that day.

we have one at our office (the boss bought it). we can only turn it up a tiny little bit. It does skim well (lots of thick yuk in the cup) and it is loud. We are using it on a 55 gallon tank. we have had it about 2 months still can't turn it up, and when we add top off water, half of it ends up in the cup. sorry, i couldn't be of more help:(

The Prizm is picky, but works fine if you keep fiddling with it. Each system seems to have its own "sweet spot." Keep adjusting and you'll find yours. I use two on two different tanks. Each is different but effective.
Good Luck!
