I also have a protein skimmer and was wondering how much water a skimmer actually puts out. Mine will fill a gallon pither in less than 8 hours. Is that normal or what? I have a wet/dry filter system and it sets in the bottom of it. Just curious

If you're talking about waste output, that's WAY too much. I have a 90g with a Seaclone 100 and generate about 1/4 cup per week.

Does not necisarilt mean that it's defective. What kind is it? SOme have to adjusted constantly to ensure proper performance. My guess is that the one you have needs some adjustment and it s/b fine.

I think it's a Aqua Clear but am not sure. I think that I need a lid on the top after seeing so other pictures. The water level is where it's supposed to be but it produces alot of output still with just bubbles. I am going to find a lid and see if that will help out my problem!

The output of a skimmer should be kind of thick and foamy like.
If it is like dirty water then you probably need to adjust the skimmer for more air.

We really need to know more aboout the skimmer. What type of pump is feeding it water? Is the flow adjustable? You seem to have the air/water flow adjusted incorrectly. Don't spend money on a new one yet. Maybe we can get this fixed for you.

My skimmer looks like a Aqua clear 150 but maybe a 75 it has a Rio 600 pump and I am using regular tap water. I did finally put a zip lock bag over the top with a big rubber band and now it's producing about 1 1/2 cups in 20-24 hours. The water level inside the skimmer is where it's supposed to be according to the skimmer, it's marked on it where to have it up to. Need anything else let me know. Thanks
