I was just reading/posting in another thread about green slime algea---no one has the answer so far, but the post listed what one member did to fix with no results unfortunately, but it may help you.
Here's the link
If that dont work, and probably wont, go to reef tanks forumn, look for the member brylee, they posted it on 12/21, last post was probably a few days later. HTH

I tried the link, didnt work. The post is "algea outbreak on live sand" by brylee, last post on 12/23. If you cant find it you can do a search from my post to link you to it.

Had a case of the green slime myself awhile back....turned the lights completly off for 5 days then had them on for only a hours a day for a few more days....Hadnt had a problem since. I was FO at the time so I could do without lighting for a bit.

What are your water parameters, mainly nitrate and phosphates? If these are high they will help to feed the slime algae.
What kind of water do use for water changes and top-offs? Tap water or other water sources that you may be using.
are often high in nutrients and should be checked.
How long are your lights and what frequency and/or age are they? There was a paper posted on this message board that covered the effects of lighting and slime algae. Really good read but I will be damned if I can rember what it is.
Good luck with the slime and I hope you can beat it before it becomes a problem!
Happy New Year!
