we have a brown slug or worm looking creature with white hair looking things all over it in our tank. it emerged out of the new live rock we purchased. anyone have any idea what it is? again it's a new tank (3 days old, rock is 2 days old). we don't have any substrate yet. thinking about going with crushed coral.

Not sure what the creature is, but I would recommend going with Live Sand. I'm sure most people on the board would agree. If cost is an issue you can do a search on live sand or quickcrete and there have been a lot of people mixing LS with regular play sand from home depot. Cost was not an issue with me so I just went with straight LS. Good luck on your new tank.

not sure if I have the same hitchhicker or not as mine appears to be some kind of worm covered in white. The white almost looks like a large snowflake with the worm in the middle. No digital camera so I cannot show a picture. It seems to move around quite a bit at night and tends to avoid the light. It hasn't bothered anything yet but I sure would like to know what it is.
