Small creatures on glass

I was getting ready to clean my glass because i noticed a bit of buildup. I was getting my magnets into position when i noticed that the buildup was actually made of thousands of what looked like tiny creatures scurrying around on the glass. They were extremely small but in mass numbers. Does anyone have a suggestion to what they would be, or if they are good or bad? My tank has been running for over a year now, and they have just seemed to show up recently.

I think the answer to your question is answered in the post titled "Bugs" from earlier today. Check it out and let us know if it sounds like you.

yeah, i have found them before in my LR, but they were bigger than these ones. I am just amazed at how many there are.

It's coming up on 2 weeks in my cycle. I'm just using LR...about 3-4 days after it started, I noticed just a few on the glass. Now there must be thousands! Some are even big enough that you can see 'em swimming in the tank!

Tiny little white guys on the glass are most usually copepods....the larger bugs that look like they have a curled back and are running for the hills when the lights come on are usually amphipods. Of course, both are good.

I'd like to get a Mandarin in my tank eventually, but from what I've heard, the tank needs to be very established (at least 3-4 months). Is this true? I wouldn't want to get one and then it ends up starving. I was thinking about starting off with 2 Ocellaris clowns once the cycle is complete.

when i scrub my glass i go over once slowly and they run and jump off the glass and goes who knows where.....then i go over it again. they usually dont come back until the algae grows back onto the glass.

Copepods can go through a pump no problem, and they should be fine with glas cleaning as well. They are eating algae on the glass, so if you keep it clean, they won't go there.....same with snails really.:) They are on the glass in my pic because I purposely grow algae in that tank to help produce pods.

I have a fairly newly established tank, and I just noticed a bunch of these guys on my glass last night. I was very excited to see so much life (even in such small forms) already. I've also seen a bunch of longer things, maybe about an eighth of an inch. Anyone have any idea as to what those are?
