smooth hound question

I current have a 300g that i just started cycling on sunday... I want to pick up a smoothhound and my LPS has one for sale but i'm not sure for how long... its about 10"... I have a 75g tank up an running with just live rock in it. Can i temp hold him in there before i drop him in the 300? and if i can worst case scenerio for how long? I'm guessing i want to wait at least a month or two before i drop him in.

Smooth hounds are not tropical temp fish. They need cooler water to be comftorable. They tend to do better in round or tanks with round egdes. They tend to smash their snouts against the glass. They are also great escape artist, always looking for an opening to escape. They will grow to 3'+ and are very active swimmers.

decided against the SH not worth the trouble trying to put him in the 300... I'll just wait till i move and built my dream tank
