snail shells

do snails need new shell to grow in or does there shell grow as they grow? ive always wonderd plus i got some new snails today that i need 2 id

well i dont kno what snails i got i got them from the oceans but are there snails that arnt reef safe

why would you get things from the ocean and take them home if they may not be reef safe. I hope that if you find out that they are not, that you take them back and put them back in the ocean and not be someone that will just toss it in the trash or yard. And to answer your question, yes there are some snails that are not reef safe.

They kind of look like welks to me, but I am no snail expert, just a guess. If they are what I think they are, then they will kill off other snails that you put in the tank. Do a search on welks with the search button above and see if those pictures are indeed what you have.

It's just your hermit crabs that need to borrow new empty shells as they grow out of them, not your snails.

Where did you collect them from?
Please do not place something back in the ocean that you have placed in your tank. We have different organiziums in or tanks and you should never release something from your tank into the Ocean. Glad to hear you say you would place them in your fuge.

yea they are in my fuge i mean if i can have it in my tank i might as well have a clean up crew in my fuge since i dont have nothing in there... i got the snails in dominican republic

i think it is a Cerithium sp it has the white spotts and everything with the shell i was reading the description. well when i pick up these snails they have alot of slime like it will hang of my finger does this have any help

I have these little white snails with almost zebra striped shells. Anyone know what they are and if they are a bad thing?
