snail shells

I have been looking for hours on the net and cannot find a place to buy empty snail shells for the red and blue legged hermit crabs. Anyone know where I can get some. Thanks

you can also *usually* buy some snail shells from your LFS. They have a lot of die off because typically they just toss the snails in thier tanks. Mine sells them 20 for a dollar. You want to boil them before putting them in, to ensure that whatever was in it before is completely gone. And, in my case, to make sure whatever they have in their tanks doesn't get into mine lol

How long should they be boiled for? I just had a couple snails die, and want to put the shells back in the tank for the hermits.

I read somewhere that you should boil them for 30 minutes. I can't seem to find where I saw it now though.

I boil mine for about 20 minutes and add a few teaspoons table salt in the water.

we dont just toss the sanils in our tanks, we actually acclimatize them longer than we do corals and fish, just because they are so sensitive!

any other site have them. They want 29.99 for shipping.. Just a bag of shells. I'm not paying that.... My LFS does not have them.

Try a hobby store. You might get lucky. Hobby Lobby or Michaels ought to have shells of some sort or another. This site sells them too.
