snails and acryllic

From the subject, you can probably tell that we have an acryllic tank. We think we read somewhere that certain snails can actually scratch the acryllic. Unfortunately, can't find that particular information in the mass of books and magazines that have piled up.
Is this true? If so, which snails do we want to avoid?
Thanks,
katie

I have never heard of snails scratching acrylic. The most common way to scratch acrylic is moving rocks around and sratching it or when cleaning the surace and you get sand scratching on the surface. Other than that I doubt a snail will scratch the surface.

The Snail you are referring to is actually a Chiton. They are sometimes found to have scratched a small area near their "home roost" but this takes years.
