Snails Question

Do snails like the Trochas and Cerith need new shells in time? or do their shells grow with them?? If they do not, how often do you need to have other shells available for them to get into before they outgrow their shells? And if they do - then what? I guess, i'm asking what future care needs to be provided for continued success with snails?
Also, many ppl have said that certain snails also propogate themselves often. What conditions and such are good encouraging this? What/where should you look for them?

They grow their own shells as opposed to hermit crabs which only "borrow" them (which is why they need to upgrade as they grow).
As for propagation I have witness rampant propagation of stomatella snails (2-4 came with my live rock - now I have hundreds), nassarious - saw several tiny ones on the glass the other day, and one or two others (poss. astrea - will be able to tell when they get larger).
