my blue leg crab eats hair algae. Most snails tend to stay away. Best solution is to solve the problem at the source which is high phosphates. 1st pic is a tiger cowry which acts like a lawn mower fighting hair algae. Second pic is what you need to use to control ur phosphates as the cowry mows it down.

they can, they do like meaty foods and algae both (and corals have both of these in them) my tiger cowery devoured almost all my yellow colonial anemones.

there are exeptions both ways, I never said "they will" I said "they Can" I've seen it with my own eyes and you have seen your not eat them, I never dissagreed with you about them in any way, I just pointed out that they are KNOWN for a fact to like meaty foods as well as algae.
In the wild, it can be found under rocks or resting on soft corals during the day, foraging for food mostly at night. The Tiger Cowrie prefers a rock aquarium with hiding places. While small, it will eat some algae and scavenge for scraps, but as an adult, it will eat some anemones, sponges, and soft corals, and is best housed with starfish, sea urchins, and tubeworms in the reef aquarium. Do not house it with Condylactis sp. It needs low nitrate levels and will not tolerate copper-based medications.

thanks for the info didn't mean to come off offensive. If i did, I do apologize... I will keep my eyes peeled for any attempts on my corals for break, lunch, or dinner

I wasnt offended in any way.
I was just pointing out that not everyones expiriences are the same with every critter. like I said yours may be the exception but they are known to be predatory on meaty foods.

my local lfs has hundreds of them. Don't believe this site offers them. You could probably google hunt one down though.
