Ilyanassa Obsoleta snails: they are hardy, good eaters, and exellent reef-keepers. They burrow in sand beds, cleaning and oxygenating the substrate. Completely reef safe!
Behavior: The perfect reef snail. This snail with its olive pit looking shell, is a scavenger with a long siphon that sticks out from the front of its shell. They quickly consume detritus, uneaten food, fish waste, and decaying organics such as dead fish, inverts, etc. They will not attack any of your population and are small enough to not knock over your corals. They also help stir the sand and maintain oxygen levels there by burrowing under. They are great for keeping your substrate, glass and sumps clean. The snails may sit for a few days at a time until they get hungry. They will hide in your system until feeding time. They emerge from sand and go to the food source once it is in the water.
These Snails will scour your live rock surface Rapidly consuming the accumulating waste material and thus preventing the tufts of macroalgae from getting a new foothold to spread any further, Unlike any other species of snail, this species is useful and effective for the control and elimination of Cyanobacteria.
So pretty much like every other snail except for the part that they're "suppossed to eat cyano" which is a hit or miss thing..
