My birdsnest is growing well. The broken tips from shipping have all healed and formed new peaks. The side of the frag has started to grow 11 new branches and I count six new splits at the tips of the grown out tips.

The montipora is growing really well. I'm keeping my alkalinity high. And it's even growing well underneath the plates. I guess the barebottom tank is lightin it up underneath really well too. There's only a couple of spots that aren't filled in yet. Time though will heal all wounds.
And just for fun

Working on a bobcat at my workshop.

Yeah man, it's getting close to diaper changing time! The bobcat looks cool. I always wondered what goes on inside of a mounted animal.

Thanks Justin and Eric.
I like taxidermy work... but there's just way too much variability between seasons and clients pocketbooks. On the other hand, people have to get their homes and business plumbing fixed no matter what.
Anyways, not much is going on with the tank. I added more phosphate removal media to the phosban reactor. Ever since then, I noticed that my algae scrubber is practically not producing any algae at all... and in fact, it's letting some of the algae go. But, that's fine. I am not adding much food to the tank right now either. I think I might be starving my fish. lol. So, I'm going to feed two to three times a day now. Or whenever I feel like it. Maybe that will get the scrubber screen going well again. I want the screen to keep going because of the benefits of having a fuge. But, I'm just not adding that much nutrients to the tank to keep it going like it should... (lol, anyone have that problem?)
I'm really thinking about getting into breeding clownfish again. I think it's a great opportunity to fine tune my skills and learn something new. I don't think I'm going to do it for profit for a little while, but it's definitely going to be something that I want to do in the future. If it's something that turns out to be fun and profitable, I might take it to a new level.

You're just running phosban or GFO, right? Not biopellets? I've heard very little good about the biopellets. As far as your feeding goes, maybe think about getting an auto feeder for small amounts 3X/day. I've been feeding frozen food for quite some time now, and just recently slowed down to only 2X/ week because of all the garbage that comes with the actual food. I still feed algae sheets every day, but I'm thinking about going back to spectrum pellets and using an auto feeder and forgetting about frozen all together (unless I make it myself).

I just feed flake. Frozen is expensive, and I have no problems maintaining my water quality. I'll just feed twice in the evenings. No big deal.
My valentine damicornis is kinda showing signs of being pissed. I'm going to look into getting some epoxy to properly mount the frags.

The tank is doing well. I decided just to rubber band the frags onto the rocks until I can just get some marine epoxy.
The birdsnest is really growing. Three weeks ago I didnt have those spikes on its side. I'm happy with this coral. The others, not so much. I think the main reason of the others not succeeding so well is Because the tank was technically only a month old when I got them.
I'll try more SPS in another couple of months. Seems there is a new fish store opening up in town.

Well, I came home today to find that all my coral but the original orange monti cap and my fish is dead. :(
The cap is hanging on by a thread. :(.
I think some "round up" herbicide accidentally got into the tank. I sprayed some around and I guess I didn't completely wash my hands before I put them in the tank. 8(
So, that's that.
I'm not going to do the vitamin c dosing anymore with this tank. I hate it turned out this way. I do not believe that it was the vitamin c that did anything, just a coincidence. I also think my temp got too hot, the ac was off today and it got really hot. Maybe a bad temp swing could have also caused this. I don't know. I'm just really sad. It's times like this that make me want to throw in the towel.

Thanks Justin.
The tank is still going. I just don't have any living coral anymore. I'm not upset about it. Just have way too much to do to worry about my tank right now.
I have two clowns in my sump right now and I have two tomatoes in my display tank, a bicolor blennie, and three chromis.
I'm actually thinking about selling my tank and equipment off to get a little extra money together. Just thinking about it. Not for sure just yet. I also need the space. It looks like we might have to stay in the apartment we are in for a couple more years. The reason,...
My wife is graduating in elementary education this coming May, but the parish (yeah, Louisiana has parishes instead of counties) and the cities aren't hiring any new teachers and are in fact firing some of the teachers they got and combining classes. So my wife probably won't be able to be gainfully employed until my state works out some bugs in their budget. :(
Means I have to work two jobs to get by now.

Teaching is a hard profession to get started in. My sister worked as a teachers aide for 2 years after she got her teaching license until she was able to get hired. How are things going?

Well, my wife is working her butt off trying to get a job. She went to two career fairs and she said that she impressed a few people. One of her teachers said that she should "expect some good news soon..." like she knows something. I am not getting my hopes up for anything. I don't even think they are hiring teachers aids right now either. They also aren't hiring any new substitutes. So, things aren't looking too good right now.
The taxidermy business is coming up on the slow season. I have to drop down less than 20 hours a week for two to three months out of the year. I'm praying that my wife will be able to get a job / make some money before those slow months hit. Basically, it all comes down to finances. So, until my wife can get a teaching job, we are stuck in a 400sqft apartment with a baby. yay.
