Yup the mag is right over/next to the anenome but i moved it for the pic. They are tank raised, and i ordered them to be small ( i got them at 3 weeks old less than 1", now about 2 1/2").
Yup i'll be questioning the store next time i'm there; i looked at my reciept and they charged it as a purple bubble tip anenome for $39
The tank was started on Aug.11th, its an AGA 125 glass with dual overflows. It came with 1" drain bulkheads and 3/4" returns. I had to install pvc drains and drilled anti-siphon holes to complete the return. (props to this board for that info.
) I used clear pvc tubing for the plumbing to a 50 gallon sump, with about 20 sectioned off for a refugium with 4in" LS bed that has live rubble and a sponge on the bottom. In that same area there is grape calapura, and chaeto, and about a thousand pods to go with the few thousand going on in the LR up in the DT.
I'm running a red sea berlin skimmer which pulls out lbs of dark green clay stank. My return pump is an aqua medics ocean runner 3500 which is Tee'd off to both returns. I will be adding another and removing the "T" in the line hopefully after the new year.
3X290GPH powerheads in the tank with plain old canister filter sponge to not suck in the haitian anenome or 2 green chromis - my 2 non-natural losses (not the originals).
I started the tank with about 100lbs of live rock and 140lbs of LS. I tried to cycle with that + 2 raw shrimp, it stank so bad and i saw no ammonia so i picked up the 3 green chromis who are still happy and with me. The tank was fully cycled within 2 weeks and i added the clowns at the 1 month mark. Also added about 20 hermits (after watching many hermmie battles im down to about 4blue legs, 5 mini reds, and 3-4 zebras), added 2 nassarius ($2.49 at lfs
), 3 turbos (1 giant - lost the 2 meds. to the hermits),5-6 astrea, added 2 skunk cleaner shrimps, 3 emeral crabs (the largest - "hellboy" was living in the 15 gallon at the lfs fine but killed the other 2 off within a week).
When October hit I added the hippo tang who was 2 in. - now 4-5". Also added the lawnmower blenny, and a diamond goby (who died a few days ago and was replaced by another watchman type goby [clear w/ blue speckles]) added a sand sifting starfish, and chocolate serpent star (not a C. Chip). Also added my first rock with button polyps and another branch with green zoos (got both for $20
) about 10 days later i added the Naso who was about 3" and is now 4-5". At the end of october i added the yellow tang, the bubble coral, mini frogspawn, green torch and another 150lbs of LIVE ROCK. The sand was also getting really uneven, but i liked how it looked (except the low points) so i added another 40lbs of pink fiji LS to help fill it in.
I didn't add anything in November, Last week i added the purple urchin who i got for free b/c my dads new red leg hermit was acclimating himself by snipping away at the spines like he was a barber gone mad. It was also in his aquapod so i kindly explained it would be happier in my 125. Also on the same day i added a 8 month old juvi koran angel, he has yet to pick at anything but the LR. The gentleman i bought him from had him in his 200 gallon coral propaging tank, so maybe he doesn't see them as food milies/party.gif" border="0" alt="" title="party" class="inlineimg" /> ..yet
Also added a solid purple Pseudochromis who has tons of personality, i thought he was going to be the hider but low he comes right out when i poke my face in front of the tank.
I've only had the diamond goby (who was a good 7-8") who unexplicably died. (probably old age b/c i got him at 7-8") I've had NO ammonia, nitrites, nitrates since the cycle. Every other friday i dose 5ml marc wiess bacteria booster. Every friday i add kent coral-vite, and essential elements. I use reef crystals salt, keep the sg at 1.026, ph is constant 8.2, (keep 30 watt pc over refugium 24/7) calcium is 420, temp 77.4-78.5 is normal swing with 400watt MH 20K, 2X130w coralife PC, 4bluemoon leds. I build the hood so i added 2x90mm fans to suck/blow arcoss the surface. All the lights are on timers.
I'm enjoy watching this tank mature, and can gaze at it more than the 50" plasma facing it
If i'm doing something seriously wrong or you got any suggestions please chime in. I plan on adding about 100 nassarius snails to help with the algeas, i've cut the MH times and am feeding less as well. I also bought a 7 stage ro-di that puts out 50gpd of <1ppm water. Somehow i forgot SOMETHING but jeez i think i went on for a long time already and thanks/props to you if you read all this! thanks folks you all are some of the neatest people i've come across on the net!
