"Snow-Flake" stars/jellies on my glass??

I've got these small (pencil tip size) white "things" clinging to the glass on my tank that look like small snowflakes. I've tried to research them, but can't find any answers? It started out as just a couple, but now there are about 30 or 40 of them all in the same area. Are they harmful to my tank, or just leave them be? The guy at the LFS said they were stars, but they seem to be multiplying at an alarming rate, and I don't want them to turn into a problem. Thanks for any info you all can give me!!

Sounds like Hydroid jellyfish ... do a search for them. Their numbers should decrease over time.
