wow this was one of the toughest contests to vote on. my final vote went to O.P. but it was a very close call.
Jay, (elite), i justed wanted to say a few things. im not bashing you in anyway , just observing here. i noticed you are very into this contest and seem to think a lot of people are biased against you. calling all of the voters haters etc, etc. anyway, you and your camera / equipment are VERY capable of taking fantastic photos. but, IMO, just because you are taking the pic, doesnt automatically mean its the best. photography is an artform (that happens to be very dependent on luck as well as skill). as with all forms of art, its not always the media, or the quality of the tool that counts, but the ingenuity of the artist, the subject matter, the composition, the lighting, focus, etc. all of these things combined make for a great photo. I feel that when you really apply yourself you get truly remarkable results. However, not every picture you post here represents this type of endeavor, and so, you should not feel deserving of the win. knowing what you can do, some shots that you take seem almost lazy in comparison. i hope you get what i mean in this little tirade, im just trying to help.

well as I have said before... I dont expect to win all the time and to be honest... I wouldnt want to cause I wouldnt use all those credits anyway. BUT there is certain photos I submitted that were good enough for a magazine yet only got a handful of votes as comapred to the winners 50+ votes...that didnt add up. Yes there is some of my photos here I took and submitted and I can honestly say were "lazy" I didnt take the time to capture a great shot... Sometimes its just to time consuming. Photo is only a side thing for me, I have a full time business which consumes a lot of my time. So some of my shots are taken once and submitted while others I will strive for that killer shot (when I have the time of coarse)

Man I really thought I had a great Snow flake picture but I didnt expect to come in last haha... oh well, I still have some other pictures so maybe I will get a 20$ credit eventually... Great pictures all, and again, thanks for the votes.

this is what we need, lots more encouraging around here....there are TONS of contests out there still...so just keep snapping and one of these times yyou never know...may win by a landslide....if not then we'll all go on being poor hobbyist, haha
