Snowflake Eel?

ok, need to know, (hypathetically, or how ever you spell that), could a snowflake eel be suitable in my tank. its a 50 gallon tank, at least 70lbs of live rock, 2 true perculas clownfish, 1 yellow watchman goby, 1 coral beauty, 3 giant snails, 4 shrimp, 7 hermit crabs, 10 sand crabs, a sand sifting star, and a conch. their are two filters a cpr backpack and a whisper filter. can i keep a snowflake eel?

yeah you should be able to keep a sfe in thier just buy it at a small size since you have those fish already in the tank and it says you have inverts just be careful sometimes the sfe might want a lil snack my sfe and trigger ate about 20 crabs all together but if the eel is small it cant really boss them around :happyfish

Don't forget SFE can get pretty big fast and are aggressive eaters! just watch out! if its a 50G cube he might not have a whole lot of room to move around in there.

yeah but he doesnt need alot of room i have 2 in a 125 and they stay in the same spot all day except night time

Are you guys shure the SFE wont eat any of my shrimp or other crustations if I get him small?

my sfe goes after my crabs but there to fast for him cause he is lazy and mine is around 12 inches

thats a chance that you are going to take. if you get him when he is small he wont mess with them but they grow fast and it is possible he will eat the shrimp and crabs

they would probably eat anything that fits their mouths. There have been snowflakes that atacked bigger fish.

I'm new to this message board, and this is only my second posting, but I couldn't resist since it was about a sfe.
First - I wouldn't recommend having one in your tank if you have shrimp or crustaceans around since these are one of his favorite meals.
Second - The one I had live for 17 years, 3 moves, and a nasty parasite that ate a small hole in him (subsequently it healed, but left a scar). So they are very hardy. It was the first fish I ever bought, and it outlived every thing. I don't know if that is normal to live that long, I was hoping to hear from others who have kept them.

I would not recomend it for long term as soon as his mouth gets biger than the fish he will eat them and he will atack your clean up crew as well if getting him really small would be fine for a while then as soon as he starts to try eating your fish put him in a agressive tank

Yah i think that it isnt best to get a SFE, although I really want one, I like my fire shrimp and cleaner shrimp way too much to just have them eaten. But i really wouldnt mind the sfe eating my coral banded, haha.
