i got a week ago it only comes out to eat then it goes in hiding. will it ever bo social and come out and swim with the other fish?

Eels aren't very social.

Eels spend most of their time concealed, with only their heads poking out. Ones that I've kept are actually pretty active at night when the lights are out so you're best chance of seeing it swimming around will be after dark, with a flash light.
