snowflake eel

I have a 55 gallon tank, currently empty. I am planning on making it into a reef tank with lots of corrals, crabs, Anemones, snails, and most likely small fish. It will also have lots of live rock. I am interested in getting a snowflake eel but am unsure if it will eat anything. Can someone tell me if that is at all possible? All help is appreciated.

swf says that it is not reef safe. also if you get one make sure you have your tank covered he will jump out, i learned that the hard way.

I can tell you from personal experience that the snowflake WILL eat any ornamental shrimp (cleaners, banded, pepperment, ect..) or emerald crabs you have in there. Fish are pretty much safe. Eels are really really lazy. While he's in quarentine, train him to eat peices of raw shrimp (or whatever you're gonna feed it) off of a stick or from chopsticks or something, and then when you add him to your main tank, he will just wait for you to hand deliver his food to him. Thats what mine did. Until it randomly died one day....I still have no cue why. It ate every day really well, and none of the fish in my tank died, but one day I woke up and found him laying dead on top of my live rock.... sad day.

i had a snowflake in the past. any small fish and inverts r not safe. with enough lr, jumping isnt really a problem. they hv very poor eye sight.

i have had one in my tank for some time now had no problem with it bothering anything else . i feed it krill and silversides every other day . started when i got it tapping on the glass when i'm going to feed him and know it comes to the top and takes it from me.
