Snowflake eels and other fish?

Is a snowflake eel safe (generally) with just about any fish? I would like to have a school of green chromis and wonder if that will be a problem.

i would say that he will probably eat one from time to time. especially at night. most eels are nocturnal. so you will probably wake up with some missing. you may oculd keep him well fed and him not do it. its a 50/50.

Thanks for the info. I also have an empty 29 tank. Would an eel be happy in there, and who would be safe with him?

I would keep him in a tank bigger than 29 gal. Maybe a 29 would be ok min. I think he will be fine with the chromis though. Just keep him happy.

put one chromis in to start and see how it goes. If it lasts a few weeks then add a few more. I would do blue damsels instead they are fasted and get bigger much quicker. No eel in a 29 unless u plan to upgrade and it is the size of a pencil

to tell you the truth I have had a SFe in my tank for 2 yrs if you keep fish bigger than the eels mouth they normally wont eat them just dont get tiny baby sized fish and you should have any problems.youll have more concerns about your other damsels eating each other more than the SFE eating them.
ps if you keep him well fed just about any fish will be fine with him.they are the least agressive of eels.as long as he has a place to hide(rocks) he will do just fine

i had pretty much the same question, so ill ask here. I jsut got a 40 gallon breeder for my snowflake once he outgrows the 29 gal he is in right now. But anyways, i wanted to get a reef tank, and since i have an eclipse system for the 29 gal, i would basicaly have to get a whole new tank to have the right lighting. But i was wondering if the Eel (named Kim Joung Eel) would do good in a reef tank with the smaller fish and once he gets close to 2 feet long. My logic says no, but that may be because i seriously got into fish when i got freshwater oscars, that will pick at my finger and jump a few inches out of the tank for a meal. But hes been fine with the fish i have now, and i have read on this site he will be fine as long as he is well fed. Then again, now he is only about 8-9 inches tops. Also will a reef tank work because i wouldnt be able to have any shrimp with a little eel. Sorry guys, but this one could go in either this forum or the reef section, but i figured you guys would know about the behavior.
Thanks!!
P.S. if a reef tank wont work i just want to get a porcupine puffer and maybe a dawf lion and thats it.
