Snowflake Eels

I am getting interested in eels and the snowflake seemed to stick out to me! I would like to know how large they grow, what they eat, how big a tank is needed, tank mates, and if more than one can be kept together, just about anything that i need to know about SFEs! They are such cool animals and would love to have one!!!

Snowflakes grow to 18-24 inches, eat meaty foods such as silversides, shrimp, clams and the like. A 4 ft. long tank would be minimum, and tankmates should not be small enough to be swallowed by it. Usually they are kept with more aggressive fish. And they are masters of escaping their confines, so seal that tank up very well.

so your saying if the fish does not fit in the eels mouth the eel will not eat it. Will the eel attempt to attack and possibly hurt the fish in any way?

Make sure the fish are bigger than the eels head (at least). The non aggressives I'd put in with ells are tangs, angels, butterflies, and cleaners (cleaner wrasse and cleaner shrimp). The fish though would have to be at least 6" when in the tank with the eel. But, I would make sure you put the eel in last so that the fish would have their little 'domain' before the eel comes and disturbs things. Eels, from what I have read, still snap at fish (no matter their size) to establish their territories.
