So has anyone been able to keep a Clam under PC lights?

Well, my GF went to my favorite LFS and they told her I could keep a Clam in my tank, so she got me one. I have seen a few things online that say I can keep them as long as water conditions are good. Kinda my fault if not though, I kept telling her I wanted one...didnt think she would buy it

water params are spot on....
so anyone been successfull....so far (1week) he looks perfect

it will help to put him higher but you really should take him back or get Mh.I would say it is only a matter of time

With a Crocea I've never heard of anyone being successful with anything under t-5's, putting him highter on the rocks would help but he will probably not be happy

well, if there is no way I can keep him...then I will try to return it...
are there any cheap MH lights that I can just add to my system that would be like a spotlight effect for him?
should the LFS take him back? they are the ones that told her I could keep him under my lights...how does that usually work

I do agree 100% and I should not have even encouraged you that placing it higher would help. Please take it back.

OK, so LFS says that he will need to be up high on my rocks, but that he will be fine.
whats the deal...im confused

All lfs are different but they should take it back.I would do research on MH. they are many different types.You can get ones that are cheaper but they are not as effienct and may make your electric bill go up alot.You know that old saying "You get what you pay for"". i would return him and do research before going and buying to quick. i bought all mine on line,I found it was less expensive then in the LFS> good luck :joy:

Your LFS will say this cause he probably figures it will take some time to slowly die, and then when it does ,you'll come and buy another one.We have nothing to gain by giving you advise but his advise encourages further sales.Ya know what I mean.

I had a lfs tell me I could keep a convict tang in my 37 G. He just wanted the sell and did not care about me or the fish. If you want to find out if this lfs is just looking at your wallet ask him a question like if you can keep a panther grouper if he says yes then you know either he is ignorant or trying to scam you. I have done this with a few lfs to see where thier priorities are some are honest and some arnt.

If this is all that is required for MH's, there is a nice clip on MH. that will work for your tank in order to keep the clam.

where do I find that....i really like the clam...and if I can add an MH right above him...I would do that in order to keep him

I don't think that they like people advertising other sites. But if you do a halide search you can find the clip-ons, or even a hanging pendant would work. The clip on MH's are cheaper though!
